Beautiful Black..... Black Beautiful
I really am not sure how to start this. Forgive me if this comes across like I am rambling.
As a black person living in a predominantly white world it is easy, even forgivable to stop thinking of yourself as beautiful. I mean even the beauty products on the shelves of the super mart don't cater for your skin type or your hair. So, you find yourself feeling less than pretty. This isn't about blame. It's just saying that, there is an obvious difference between the races. What works for the average white woman definitely doesn't work for the average black woman.
I've also noticed that when I watch TV, the common representation of a beautiful woman is a white slender(skinny thighs) blonde haired young girl. Nothing wrong with that either. I am after all in another man's land but it easy to look to THAT, to aspire for that. To think, if I could only get those skinny thighs then... I would be happy. The truth is, you aren't configured that way. You are black. And that doesn't make you any less beautiful or pretty.
So, I started this blog to remind myself and other black people out there, that black IS beautiful. Its different and beautiful. And should be celebrated.
